Light, Shade and Shadow – Video Download

This 9 minute video was filmed on location in Roslyn WA. Looking at a barn in direct light and determining the light direction, Cathe discusses the value differences that exist on the sunlit side of the barn, different from the darker value on the unlit (shade) side of the barn, and the even darker cast shadow area on the ground. After drawing the barn's main shapes of the light, shade and cast shadow areas, and filling in the respective values, she then does a short painting demo outlining the respective hue changes that occur also in the these different areas.
