Cluster Shapes – June 2014 – Video Download

In this 18 minute video Cathe transforms a complicated tree shape into a simplified painting by thinking about the overall shape first and then clusters of smaller overlapping ones. She talks about the importance of looking at complicated shapes by thinking about it in two stages. First, consider the large outside shape, draw it, and tweak it to make it interesting. Secondly, break that shape up into smaller shapes that overlap each other, creating a cluster of shapes. Together they roughly make up the first large shape.
